Haripur:
In Afghan refugee camp # 16 in the city of Haripur, a terrible incident happened in which five men allegedly raped a 21-year-old woman, police said on Saturday.
A first information report (FIR) is registered and police have launched an investigation. According to FIR, the victim was on his way to camp # 16 for work as five men forced her into nearby fields and raped her for two hours.
Fir further stated that the perpetrators also caught RS3,000 in cash and a gold nose pin from the victim. She identified the suspects such as Bacha, Nadi, Rozi Khan, Javed and Naseer. The complaint added that when she tried to resist, the men physically assaulted her and left her wounded.
The Khalabat police have booked all five suspects in accordance with section 375a of the Pakistan Penal Code, which says, “When rape is committed by two or more persons in the promotion of the general intention of all, each of such persons must be punished by death or imprisonment for life.”
The incident has given rise to indignation among local residents, while the victim’s family has demanded exemplary punishment for the guilty.
