USC Women’s Basketball Star Juju Watkins was chosen as 2025 -winner of the John R. Wooden Award on Saturday and beat Uconn star Paige Bueckers.
The other finalists were Lauren Betts from UCLA, Hannah Hidalgo from Notre Dame and Madison Booker from Texas.

Watkins won the award as another and just became the third subclass that did it since the award was created in the 2003-04 season.

Watkins was one of the most dominant players in the NCAA tournament before taking her ACL in the second round. She is fourth in the nation of scoring with 23.9 points per year. Match along with 6.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.2 stealing and 1.8 blocks of 33.8 minutes per Match.
Watkins was also in the process of potentially breaking Caitlin Clark’s NCAA scoring record for all the time before the ACL tear.
Bueckers, senior, still playing in the NCAA tournament and will have a chance to win the championship after dominating UCLA 85-51 in Final Four Friday.
