Controvers hit Women’s College World Series (WCWS) during an elimination game between UCLA and Tennessee on Sunday.
Bruin’s first Baseman Megan Grant came up to the record with two outs and one runner first and crushed a pitch from volunteer pitcher Karlyn Pickens to tie the game, or then everyone thought.

Grant rounded third and drove home to celebrate with his teammates. She didn’t seem to touch home, and a teammate was needed to bring her back to make sure she did.
Tennessee challenged the race, and UMPIRES went through it to see if she was touching the home plate and if she was “assisted” back to make sure she definitely got in touch with it. College Softball rules specify that a runner cannot be physically helped by a teammate to touch the record.
“After the review, the call is maintained in the field and the race will score,” the judge announced. “The runner missed the home plate and was helped. However, that game cannot be reviewed, according to Appendix G.”
Appendix G in the NCAA Softball Rule Book determines what can be reviewed.

It was a huge break for Bruins as they were able to expand the game.
Tennessee came up to the bottom of the ninth and pushed a race across the record to win the game, 5-4. Infielder Laura Meals Singles Home Taylor Pannell to win it.
The volunteers are now moving on to the next round and UCLA goes home. Tennessee faces Texas in the semi -finals on Monday. They have to beat Longhorns twice to move to the championship.
Uclas Sofia Mujica and Alexis Ramirez hit every home runs for Bruins in the loss.
