As Pam Bondi steps down as US Attorney General, her influence on the national movement to “Save Women’s Sports” has been praised by those involved in the fight.
During Bondi’s tenure, she initiated DOJ lawsuits against state education agencies in Maine, California, and Minnesota for policies that allowed biological male transgender athletes to compete in girls’ high school sports.
Former NCAA women’s soccer player Sophia Lorey, now a prominent conservative activist and influencer in Southern California, told Pakinomist Digital her reaction to the recent news of Bondi’s departure as AG.

“I am grateful for Attorney General Bondi’s leadership in standing up for girls’ sports and defending justice for female athletes. Her efforts reflected an administration that has made protecting women and girls a clear priority. From Education Secretary Linda McMahon to Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon, I have seen a consistent level of commitment to this issue, and coordination on this issue at the highest level.
“Regardless of personnel changes, I remain encouraged that protecting the integrity of women’s sports remains a signature focus of President Trump’s administration, and I hope to see this commitment carried forward with strength and clarity.”

Lorey was a leading figure in efforts to bring national attention to local controversies involving transgender athletes in Riverside County, California at Martin Luther King High School and Jurupa Valley High School, with each incident resulting in lawsuits. Bondi then filed a Title IX lawsuit against California last July for its refusal to change its policies.
The Independent Women’s Forum, a political group that represents prominent women’s sports activists Payton McNabb and Selina Soule, addressed Bondi’s departure in a statement to Pakinomist Digital.
“Pam Bondi’s tenure at the Department of Justice has been extremely consequential and effective. During her time in office, the Department advanced key priorities for public safety and enforcement, and crime reductions reflect a renewed focus on the rule of law. Attorney General Bondi also played a visible role in one of the most pressing legal issues of our time: whether long-standing female protections will be named in a sex-based group,” he says.

“Her leadership in supporting efforts to preserve fairness in women’s sports, recognizing the biological reality of the law, has been applauded by Independent Women. She has been a trusted and valued partner to the administration, and her many years of collaboration with the president are evident. Her experience and leadership will undoubtedly continue to have an impact, whether in the public service or the private sector.”
