Workers lose faith in their leaders – and not only because AI takes over

  • Workers are not satisfied with a lack of empathy and transparency from leaders
  • AI tools give them greater autonomy and more free time, HP studies find
  • Younger workers also want more flexibility

The 2025 edition of the HP’s Work Relationship Index has highlighted a broad worker distrust of leadership – to find only 14% of the 1,300 who were investigated, trust that their senior leaders are making the right decisions (down 12 percentage points compared to last year).

Workers noticed a lack of empathy (86%) and transparent communication (86%), where two out of five (41%) feel that their business prioritizes profits rather than people.
