Workers threaten nationwide protest

Islamabad:

A protest demonstration was held in the federal capital on the occasion of the federal budget under the leadership of various federations and unions, including Pakistan Workers Federation, all Pakistan United Irrigation Employees Federation, Capital Development Authority Mazdoor Union, Pakistan Community Health Workers Federation and all government -related coordination coordination council. Hundreds of employees from all over Pakistan participated in the protest.

When addressing the protesters, supervisors said inflation is rising day by day. Workers in Pakistan face enormous pressure due to rising inflation, low wages and an uncertain future. They demanded the authorities to increase employees’ wages and pensions by 100% compared to inflation.

They also required minimum wages to be increased to RS60,000, the privatization of institutions is stopped, institutions are released from the contract and ad-hoc systems, and pension reforms are withdrawn.

They issued a warning that if the requirements of government employees are not treated immediately, a nationwide protest will be launched.
