President Donald Trump said Thursday that World Cup hosts in the United States could be moved if he felt the city was uncertain for players and fans to be in.

Trump proclaimed a fall in crime in Washington, DC, after the National Guard was sent in and said he was planning to do the same with Chicago and Memphis in the coming days. Neither Washington, Chicago nor Memphis will host the World Cup.

“We, as you probably know, we go into Memphis and we go into some other cities, and very soon we have to go into Chicago,” Trump told journalists in the oval office. “It will be safe for the World Cup. If I think it is not certain, we will move into another city. If I think it is not sure we will move it out of that city.”

Trump credited FBI director Kash Patel to help reduce the crime in Chicago, but pointed out that he would consider moving somewhere if he thought the city was too uncertain.
