Anyone who saw the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 may know Steele as Tamyra Mensah warehouse. She won the gold medal in the women’s 68 kg of freestyle competition and became the first female African American and first black female wrestler to won Olympic gold.
She became a viral sensation during summer -ol.
However, she told Pakinomist Digital in a recent conversation that the drive to stay on the wrestling mountain top began to wither away and that freestyle wrestling became more of a task.
“I’m a natural athlete. God gave me a natural ability to just crush people and I love to do it and I enjoy doing it. When I won the Olympics, I had a lot of joy in it, but it was under Covid when no one was nearby and it was very, very unfortunate that there was no one in the crowd,” she said. “I fought for another two years and I didn’t have much love for it.
“Every time I fought for someone, it was easy abroad. And whatever I love is to put hard work and get someone to fight me and just have that fight. That what brings me joy and joy – I don’t know why I’m sadistic, but whatever you want to call it, it’s fighter in me.”

Steele said she was “bored” with Olympic training, and when WWE knocked on her door, she replied. She went into WWE in 2023 with the hope of eventually getting to the main list.
“When I found out that WWE would take me on, I think,” This will be a new venture and this will be exciting, it will be something that is fresh for me, “she said.” And I feel like it was my calling from God. It’s been an absolute blessing where I was here. I have found, I swear, joy in life again. ”
Putting weight cut behind her and the ability to show her personality more was something that also appealed to Steele. She embraced the new challenge in a new sport.
“So why am I here? I’m here because I want to be called to be here,” she told Pakinomist Digital. “I’m here because I’m enjoying the match. I’m here because I’m getting a new start to be a new person and to get my face and my energy in new eyes. And I can also bring my fans who are like ‘no, wait, do another ol.’ No, no, no.
