- Xbox -Manager Phil Spencer has once again confirmed his support for Nintendo Switch 2
- Spencer is a “really big believer” in Nintendo and what it can do for the industry
- He also says there is no pressure on revealing Xbox’s next gene project after the Switch 2-Hardware Slick
Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has confirmed that Xbox is still interested in supporting Nintendo Switch 2.
In a new interview with variation after Nintendo Switch 2 directly earlier this month, Spencer was asked if there are any plans to branch out to Switch 2 in the middle of Microsoft’s ongoing Multi-Platform Push, which has seen games like Indiana Jones and the big circle Run their way to PS5.
Like the Xbox chief expressed in January, he said the company will support Switch 2, just like Switch, as it’s another way to reach more players and thinks Nintendo is generally an important part of the industry.
“So we’ve supported Switch 1, I want to support Switch 2. Nintendo has been a big partner,” Spencer said. “We think it is a unique way for us to reach players who are not PC players who are not players on Xbox. It lets us continue to grow our community of people who are interested in the franchises we have and it is really important for us to make sure we continue to invest in our games.
“I’m really a great belief in what Nintendo means to this industry and us who continue to support them. And getting support from them to our franchises, I think is an important part of our future.”
Although no Xbox game was revealed to get to Switch 2 under the showcase, it was rumored that titles like Halo: Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator comes to the platform in the future.
On the question of Nintendo’s big reveal of Switch 2’s Hardware, Xbox has made the Xbox “Antsy” in terms of revealing his own next generation project, Spencer said “No”, and believes that the industry “should focus on our community and the player base that we build”.
“I get inspired by what many different creators do and other platform holders. But I believe in the plans we have,” he said. “Obviously, we are developing what it means to be Xbox and meeting players in so many different places. There are 3 billion people playing video games on the planet and I get up every morning thinking about how Xbox can be more relevant to the 3 billion people playing.
“And it is by ensuring that we lead in how our games and our platform features can be available as many places as possible, whether it is shy, whether it is people playing on PC, whether it is people playing on console. So we are really driven by trying to grow our franchises and our platform to be an important part of games for so many of these 3 billion players.”
Nintendo Switch 2 is launched on June 5, 2025 for $ 449.99 / £ 395.99 or $ 499.99 / £ 429.99 for a Mario Kart World bundle.
Pre -orders now live in the UK, but US pre -orders and Canadian pre -orders have been delayed as Nintendo assesses the potential impact of customs duties.
