- Xiaomis Yu7 is a follow -up on the massively popular SU7 sedan
- Huge hypervision panoramic display spans over the entire windshield
- Huge performance promised by 680BHP electric drivetrain
Hot on the heels of Xiaomis SU7, which sold nearly 30,000 units in China for a single month as it launched last year, the smartphone and the tech giant announced the eagerly awaited follow-up.
SPORTING SLEEK crossover -look, not too different from Porsche’s amazing Taycan Sport Turismo model, YU7 offers more interior spatiality and the extra practical of a larger and more accessible trunk. A generous 1,970 liters of total storage space are offered.
It is hot tipped to be a massive sales success in its domestic market in China, where it has been touted to cause a headache for Tesla, which further erodes model Y sales in the country.
This is down to the fact that Xiaomi products have an almost cult-like status in China, but also because its dimensions are greater than the model Y, it charges faster and boasts a much larger range.
Xiaomi says YU7 will come in three versions (Standard, Pro and Max), which can offer up to 519 miles of range on a single charge or up to 680BHPs in the most potent versions-0-62 km / h sprints only take 3.2 seconds in max models.
Plus, charging takes only 12 minutes to achieve a 10-80% state charge thanks to an 800V silicon carbide-high voltage platform architecture.
But scratch the surface, and Xiaomi has gone with a gun who is involved in the technology offered with the next generation of Nvidia’s Drive Agx Thor Computing Platform, which provides a serious digital fire power.
Alongside advanced levels of autonomous driving and active security systems, Compute Power also allows for an abundance of interior screens and screens.
Xiaomi says it is the first to offer a panoramic display that spans the entire bank of the windshield. Baptized Hypervision -Panoramic Display, the “Intelligently adapts” to different user scenarios.
Technical Society says it can offer speeding and navigation directions in the driver’s line of view, but will also offer infotainment details, including real-time texts.

If it all sounds a little distracting, just wait until you hear that Hypervision Panoramic display can offer five modular information categories, from instrument readings and media control to navigation and weather updates.
Xiaomi intended that the interior of YU7 should mimic the cockpit of a fighter jet, with countless information at driver’s fingertips.
Passengers are also treated on screens, with lowered screens an optional extra and an extra remote control panel embedded in the back of the mid -console, giving rear passengers the opportunity to take over navigation or “entertainment control” tasks.
There is no current word about pricing, but like SU7, the latest Xiaomi will only be for sale in China for now. It’s probably a good thing for most rival producers.
Analysis: Teslas Model Y remains a target

Although the award is not official, Xiaomi Yu7 was rumored to arrive with a brand that slightly undermines the Y-Tesl Globally best-selling vehicle and one that once dominated the Chinese sales charts.
According to The Verge, Xiaomi founder, chairman and CEO Lei Jun responded to the news of a refreshed model Y that came to China late last year with a size comparison between Yu7 and Musk’s popular electric SUV. Heck, the new Xiaomi even has a ‘Y’ in its name.
It is clear that Chinese EVs are continuing to target Tesla and are trying to strike the brand out of the upper place with more affordable, more technologically advanced and more practical electric vehicles.

Xiaomi has an even sharper edge, considering that it is one of the most recognizable names in technology and one of the largest smartphone producers in the world. SU7 was often considered the Apple car that was never, and a large number bought into it.
Given the YU7 offers even more, especially the practicality of improved interior space and comfort, it is very likely that it will prove a huge sales success.
On the other hand, Tesla continues to experience sliding sales figures, both in China and further away. Last month, bids sold more electric cars than Tesla in Europe for the first time in its history.
