- Google Gemini has six new iPhone Lock Screen Widgets
- Gemini also has new shortcuts in iPhone Control Center
- Widgets include immediate access to voice input, image recognition and file analysis
Google made it equally easier to talk to Gemini on an iPhone even before it’s unlocked. The Gemini app now offers widgets for iPhone lock screens and control centers, making it feel less like a third-party chatbot and more like a built-in feature in iOS.
The six new locking screens -widgets provide immediate access to another Gemini feature. Before this update meant getting to Gemini unlocking your phone, finding and opening the app, and then choosing what you would do. Although it was hardly an ordeal, it was not exactly trouble -free. But now you can jump right into the action with a single touch.
The “Type Prompt” widget allows you to quickly shoot a question to Gemini without opening the full app. Need a quick response to whether penguins have knees? Now you can find out without disturbing what else you are doing. “Talk Live” is in the same way convenient, so you can dive directly in a real -time conversation with Gemini, and jumps the previous extra step to launch the chat first.
The “Open Mic” setting is perfect for when your hands are full, but you suddenly remember that you have to set a reminder, plan a meeting or ask Gemini to prepare an E email. If you are the kind of person who often thinks about the task lists of the worst possible times, this can save you from the familiar cycle of “I will remember it later” and then inevitably forget.
There are also camera-based features that make Gemini an on-demand visual search engine. The “Use the Camera” widget allows you to snap a photo and ask questions about what’s in front of you, which is good at identifying mysterious ingredients in your refrigerator or confirming that the spider in your bathroom is probably harmless. The “Share Image” and “Share File” settings allow you to upload existing media to Gemini to analyze, whether you want more information, some creative inspiration or just someone (or something) to recognize your latest masterpiece.
If you would rather make Gemini more invisible, you can set shortcuts to the corner buttons where the flashlight and camera buttons usually live. You can also make them part of the Control Center so you can push down in iOS to see them. Google seems eager to make Gemini feel more at home on your iPhone than Siri, honestly.
Gemini iPhone
It is also noteworthy that Gemini’s attempt to fit in on iPhone is coming as Apple is working to rework Siri in the new AI age. Since the complete re -posting has not arrived yet, Google may be trying to get iPhone users used for Gemini before Siris Ai Makeover debuts.
It also sets the stage for a new kind of rivalry among AI assistants. Instead of being referred to an app you visit when you remember it exists, AI becomes a more immediate, everyday presence. With these new widgets, it can be as usual to interact with Gemini as checking messages or adjusting the brightness.
It’s a big leap from the days of virtual assistants that feel like news that you will occasionally ask to tell you a joke before you forget them completely.
Currently, this update is a clear win for iPhone users who enjoy using Gemini. It makes the assistant faster, more accessible and more seamlessly integrated into everyday life. Whether this is the beginning of an AI assistant at a full scale will be looking to see, but it will certainly be harder to ignore if you add it to your lock screen.
