- Samsung has announced pre-order benefits for the Galaxy S26 series
- In the UK and other parts of Europe this includes the option to double your storage for free
- However, this particular perk is not currently listed in the US or Australia
Rising memory prices are a real concern for this year’s smartphones, as costs are expected to rise, and in turn, there was some doubt whether Samsung would offer its usual double-storage pre-order benefit. But we now know that the company will – at least in some regions and with some caveats.
The company is now letting you register your interest in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 series, and if you’re in the UK (or many other parts of Europe) the registration page mentions that you can get 512GB of storage for the price of 256GB if you pre-order, along with a £30 voucher and the chance to win a £500 voucher.
It doesn’t mention a specific model for the stock upgrade, so presumably this applies to the Samsung Galaxy S26, Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus, and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. And since there’s no mention of doubling the 128GB to 256GB, it suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S26 will ditch its predecessor’s 128GB capacity and start at 256GB, as has been rumored.
But despite the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra almost certainly topping out at 1TB, there’s also no mention of being able to double your storage from 512GB to 1TB, so you might not be able to do that.
Not available in all locations
The biggest concern, however, is that the US and Australian registration pages so far do not mention this perk. In the US, for example, the site says you can get a $30 Samsung credit, up to $900 in additional savings if you trade in a device, and a chance to win $5,000. In Australia, you’ll get an AU$50 voucher and the chance to win one of 26 “Galaxy Prizes”.
So it could be that Samsung won’t offer double storage in every region this year, or maybe it’s yet to announce this perk for some regions.
Hopefully it’s the latter, because while prices haven’t been confirmed yet, these are sure to be expensive phones. But the company doesn’t have long to announce this perk elsewhere, as the Samsung Galaxy S26 series will be announced on February 25th – so in about a week at the time of writing.
