- Tvos 26 is officially released today, September 15, 2025
- A new look and some funny new features
- Available to all Apple TV HD and 4K models
Congratulations on Tvo’s 26 day to everyone who celebrates it! Today’s day when your Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4K is getting a whole new operating system and because the iPhone, iPad and Mac everyone will be updated, it will have all your Apple Kit to watch and feel part of the same Apple ecosystem.
I have used the TVOS 26 developer and the public betas for a while and these five features are my current favorites. Note, however, that not all features work on all older devices.
Look through liquid glass
Liquid Glass is Apple’s new design language, and it comes to Apple TV in a slightly less dramatic form than on the iPhone or iPad: Where these device interfaces now look dramatically different, the already modern-looking Apple TV design has gained more of a fresh.
The biggest difference you will notice is the control center (which now looks as clear as the one on an iPhone) and in FaceTime (which looks more like the iOS app).
The new interface is trying to get out of your way as much as possible, enabling you to focus on the show or movie rather than transport controls and additional options. Which is exactly what you want from a TV interface.
AirPlay for something
Apple TV and AirPlay were made for each other and TVOS 26 introduces a very welcome improvement: In Settings> Video and Audio you can now make AirPlay to your default audio output for any AirPlay speaker, without having to nominate it again the next time you wake up on your Apple TV from sleep.
A small change with certainty, but a welcome to anyone who has wanted them to use a few Sonos speakers like stereo -TV speakers, says.
Karaoke mode
Sing -mode in Apple Music is now working with your iPhone, enabling you Who let the dogs out? When she tries to sleep).
Pairing is just a matter of scanning the QR code on the screen with your iPhone camera and you can open the Apple Music feature or using the dedicated sing icon shown on your home screen.
Apple Music has a dedicated selection of singing songs and playback lists, so it’s just a matter of finding the ones you want to howl. You can also enable a visualizer on the screen to move with the music.
The Sing feature is only for 2022 Apple TV 4K, unfortunately, and you will need the TV speakers, a sound beam or another cable associated audio system: It is not currently working if you send to wireless speakers.
Change the screen scene
When I first saw the very first Apple TV, one of the things that impressed me the most was the screens: Apple has consistently delivered very beautiful reality scenes, including some breathtaking aerial photography, and the collection has grown with each OS update.
The Tvos 26 update is no exception, and in addition to the new screens – this time from Indian places, including Goa and Kerala – there is a new way to organize them.
In Tvos 26 you can personalize the air screen savings more than each before. Not only can you hide the collections you do not want to see-for example if you really love the Earth’s screens, but are not so eager at the underwater collection can you now do the same on a screensaver basis.
Customize your Apple TV with profiles
If you have a shared Apple TV, you probably already know user profiles. Tvos makes them much easier to access so you can have a profile selection screen when Apple TV wakes up (or to bypass it and go directly to a specified profile every time).
Profiles will also be even more useful in TVOS 26 because Apple now allows developers to tie their apps to specific Apple accounts, so the profile you log in to Apple TV will also be the profile used for your various apps.
It should make setup of your Apple TV or setup of a new profile for the first time, much faster.
