Apple will treat us to a first look at iOS 27 when the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) rolls around in June, and the software could come with a supercharged autocorrect feature to help you type.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is considering a way to improve autocorrect by offering alternative words you might want to use — the approach is “similar to tools like Grammarly,” says Gurman.
Gurman is usually one of the more reliable tipsters when it comes to Apple rumors, but he also says that no final decision has been made on the autocorrect. We’ll have to wait and see if it’s something Apple announces the following month.

There’s also no further detail on how it works: if it’s like Grammarly, it might work a bit like a thesaurus and writing assistant, helping you pick the right word every time. Of course, you can already get writing help on iOS with Apple Intelligence.
A better autocorrect
It seems that Apple is finally focusing on one of the biggest bugbears for many iPhone users with this potential update and other recent tweaks. Complaints about autocorrect and its accuracy on iOS stretch back years.
In the latest iOS 26.4 update, we got what Apple described as “improved keyboard accuracy when typing quickly” – which should now mean fewer errors and ignored keystrokes for users trying to enter text at a decent speed.
This iOS 27 update, if it arrives, should further improve autocorrect — though it remains to be seen how useful the suggestions are, or how much they might interrupt the flow of your typing. Meanwhile, users are turning to physical keyboards instead.
However, the main focus of iOS 27 is expected to be Siri. The digital assistant is believed to be getting a Google Gemini-powered AI upgrade as well as other new tricks, including support for third-party AI chatbots inside Siri itself.
