- AI -Features of 2024 Kindle Scribe were only available to US customers
- Latest firmware with AI features now rolls out to users in the UK, Canada and Australia
- These features are now also available on 2022 Kindle Scripe
When Amazon Kindle Scribe (2024) was released last December, I was rather muted that the promised AI feature was not part of the package for users outside the United States. At that time, Amazon had no comments on when the AI Resume and Handscript Recognition Features would be rolled out more far -reaching, but it has happened now.
The latest firmware update (version 5.17.3) can now download.
I have checked both the 2022 and 2024 models that I have, but at the time of publication also did not have the latest firmware available for download. However, Amazon has already listed it on his help and customer service page in Australia, where I am based, so it is only a matter of time before it is pushed out to the devices themselves. Of course, you can download the Software Package from the Amazon Web site in your region if you don’t want to wait but you will need to use Send to Kindle Service or E email it to your Kindle to update your device.
Once installed, be able to see a star -like icon in your notebooks. Pressing this gives you two options: to ‘summarize’ a note or to ‘refine writing’.

This firmware update also includes a new feature called side panel margin. As the name suggests, this adds a sidebar where you can write notes when reading an E book. This feature is also part of the latest firmware that rolls out to multiple users outside the United States and is available for both writing models.
The side panel feature is in addition to Active Canvas, which only adds a box to your handwritten note, while also reformating the page. The side panel is literally to: a full -length panel for your thoughts with the ability to change the breadth as much as you want.
A better note-tag-tag-tablet
This new update means that the Kindle Scribe is now a much better e-paper tablet than it was, especially 2022 original model. The promised roll -out of AI has the older scripture on par with its successor, and given that it is now cheaper to buy, it represents better value. However, I am still partly with Kobo’s advanced notebooks, but I am excited to see Amazon make an effort to make the scribes more competitive.
The only bone I have to choose with Amazon now – only because I’m Aussie – is that none of the new Kindles now has audible support down. What about that then Amazon?
