LAHORE:

Senior politician and former federal minister Muhammad Ali Durrani has said that President Asif Ali Zardari could play a role in facilitating former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s move to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In an interview, Durrani said government-PTI relations were currently operating on a “quid pro quo” basis, with the former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz president Nawaz Sharif playing an active role in facilitating dialogue.

Durrani added that senior PML-N politician Rana Sanaullah is also contributing positively to reconciliation efforts on behalf of Nawaz Sharif. He stressed that Nawaz Sharif had engaged opposition forces to push the process forward.

“President Zardari has been quietly working for political reconciliation while Nawaz Sharif is engaging the opposition to push the process forward,” he said, referring to remarks by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on the death anniversary of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.
