- ZEKR 007 GT joins 007 sedan in rapidly expanding line-up
- Sporty Variant offers bags with space and lots of pace
- The company says it will offer the car in additional markets in the future
Zekr is fresh from the launch of its 7X SUV model outside China and has announced that it will make a slim, magnificent tour brake version of its 007 sedan available in China.
Intended to start with only RMB 202,900 (or about $ 27,615 / £ 21,000 / AU $ 43,300), measures 007gt nearly 5 meters (16ft 4in) in length, allowing the trunk to swallow 645 liters of kit with the rear seats and a massive 1,737 litter with the rear seats folded.
It runs on the same platform as the recent 7x as well as several other geely group products with an 800V electric architecture that gives 10% to 80% battery charging in just 10.5 minutes from a suitable DC-ULTRA fixed charger.
According to CNEV Post, the 007 GT offers two battery sizes with a cheaper 75 kWh LFP battery from CATL, which delivers just over 400 miles of range on China’s CLTC test cycle.
Like 7x, Zekr will also offer its larger 100 kWh ‘Golden Battery’, which sees the range to jump to an impressive 512 miles.
The performance is also impressive, with even the lower-driven single-motor models capable of accelerating from 0-62 km / h in 5.2 seconds, while the AWD double motor variant can cover the same spring in just 3.8 seconds.
The Nvidia Orin-X System-On-A-Chip and Lidar technology provides the basis for advanced automated driving functionality with advanced automatic parking and even automated robotic charge offered on the Chinese domestic.
Analysis: teasing Tesla with a more enticing range
After driving on the back of a Zeekr 007, I can guarantee the comfort and levels of luxury that the brand has managed to achieve. It is a striking car from the outside, but also a very comfortable way of traveling from the passenger seats.
007 GT strengthens Zeekrs Line-up in so much that it is aimed at families and couples, with the accompanying press images showing the car used for camping excursions and various outdoor active lifestyle activities.
Although not 100% confirmed, Zekr has said it hopes to bring the 007 GT to the global markets (fortunately, 007 loses and chooses 7GT instead), where it is likely to be priced to take on KIA’s EV6, VW ID 7 Tourer and even Tesla’s model Y.
ZEKR already has eight models available in China covering sedations, shooting brakes, MPVs and a number of SUVs. It is this kind of choice that Tesla is so desperately missing right now and is a weak place, like competitors, like Zekr, seems to be exploiting.
