- Leakies from Chinese car bloggers suggest that potent model is on the way
- A 2,000 hp EV would eclipse the mighty SU7 Ultra’s 1,500 horsepower
- Only Rimac Nevera R can boast more than that number but cost millions
Alongside an increasingly competitive EV market, China is also apparently involved in a power struggle, as a number of the country’s most popular producers are facing performance statistics as the latest way of convincing buyers to stand out with their cash. And now Zekr is being ridiculed to launch a new model that will put a new high bar for EV.
Zeekers 001 FR model is already sitting against the top of the high performance tree and boasts approx. 1,300 hp and the ability to rock from standstill to 62 km / h in just over two seconds. All this for 769,000 Yuan – or about $ 107,000 / £ 79,000 / AU $ 164,000.
Quad Motor Drivetrain and the 100kWh battery mate to produce scintillating performance statistics, but a number of high-profile bloggers have taken to Chinese social media to declare that an updated version is already on the way and that it is intended to develop over 2,000 hp.
Car News China reported that several high -profile bloggers and influencers went to Weibo to declare that Zekr is preparing an updated version, presumably to take its high -performance crown back from Xiaomi, recently introduced the 1,500 HP SU7 Ultra – a vehicle overturned Nurburgring Lap Times, which is set by the world’s most famous auto.
The Chinese Automotive News Outlet continues to state that ZEEKR’s new model is expected to have revised exterior styling, several weight -saving measures and unprated suspension and brakes to handle such power.
Despite only being four years old, Zekr already offers a line-up of seven vehicles in China (with about four or five in Asian and European markets), including a 001 model suitable for most budgets and tastes.
These range from a luxurious long-distance cruiser to the newly announced 001 sports model, which will be the first taste of its performance for customers outside its domestic market.
Limited to only 250 units, 001 sports will accelerate from 0-62 km / h in less than four seconds, offer tailor-made sports styling and deliver 544 hp and 363 miles of range. It is already available to order in a number of European countries.
China is coming to Performance Crown
It says Rimac Nevera R of $ 2.6 million is among the few electric hypercars that can better Zeekers suggested 2,000 hp monster as Chinese car manufacturers repeatedly rip up to the rulebook.
Need more examples? Well, tech giant Xiaomis recently launched SU7 Ultra managed to translate approx. 1,550 hp to the road and still cost only $ 73,000-long from $ 231,995 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, which is undoubtedly its only current competitor.
Both ends of the EV spectrum are being blown by Chinese competition at the moment, whether it is the cheaper everyday things that are currently challenging Tesla’s dominance or the high-performance market that was once the reserve for Porsche, BMW, Audi and more.
Granted, these ‘heritage’ carmakers still produce the better driver’s cars, but the gap is quickly narrowed. Zekrs recently launched European 7X is a good example of this.
But even Zekr made the mistake of boldly preaching that “competitors would not be able to build this in five years” after launching the original 001 FR, only for Xiaomi to answer and better it to under two.
The pace of progress in the Chinese EV market is staggering, and despite the recent efforts made by most Western car manufacturers, it is difficult not to believe that they are still drastically hanging behind.
