Each Los Angeles Rams fan smiled ear to ear Monday after seeing who was on the field of practice.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford, who has been dealing with a sharpened disk in the back, was seen in a Red Practice Jersey with his teammates. Rams twitly twited a picture of Stafford on his way to the field where he participated in exercises.

Although it was limited work, head coach Sean McVay liked what he saw from his starter.

“I thought he was doing a good job today,” McVay told journalists. “We had 26 plays of teams and he did a really good job of managing the mug. I thought he saw the field well, I thought he was going where the ball was going to go and there was some good competitive work on both sides today.”

McVay added that, despite Staffford’s impressive viewing on practice, Rams will take things gently with him moving on. He referred to the situation as “very fluid” so as not to put anything definitely on his status until week 1.

Staffford’s status of training camp has been mildly cloudy. There have been no strong updates about his health and it was reported that he received an epidural to try to deal with his back problem.

However, McVay broke a little through the gray area when he mentioned last week that Staffford’s next step would emerge on practice. Rams began the week with the 37-year-old on the field with his teammates, a sign that he is trending in a positive direction.

There is a little under three weeks left for the forecast before the regular seasonal restriction begins, so Rams certainly hopes Stafford can be clear when it’s time to take the pitch against Houston Texans at Sofi Stadium on September 7.

Rams is hoping for another playoff quay in 2025 after walking 10-7 to earn one in 2024. Stafford threw for only 20 touchdowns to eight interceptions during this period.

However, he has a new look at the recipient this year as Davante Adams joins Rams after difficult stints with Las Vegas Raiders and the New York Jets. He fills the hole left by Cooper Kupp, Staffford’s trusted receiving weapons traded for Seattle Seahawks this season.

With Puka Nacua’s emergence as a real top -Wideout for Los Angeles, Kupp became usable, although the story between Quarterback and the recipient was potent. Rams’ Super Bowl LVI victory so Kupp plays an important role in getting there in the first place, after winning the receiving Triple Crown that season by leading the league at receptions, yards and touchdowns. Kupp caught the game -winning touchdown from Stafford with 1:25 back in the game, which just happened to be at Sofi Stadium.

But it was then, and it is now – a time when Rams’ only focus is to ensure that Stafford is healthy in week 1 and throughout the 2025 campaign.

If he’s not ready to go at that time, Jimmy Garoppolo is likely to replace him as the team’s backup -quarterback. Rams announced that Garoppolo would not participate in the forecast, which pointed out that he was the team’s # 2 option.
