Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visits Islamabad to co-chair on the 6th Pakistan China Foreign Minister’s strategic dialogue on August 21, the Foreign Office said in a statement on Tuesday.

According to the declaration, the visit is part of regular high -level exchanges aimed at further strengthening the “strategic cooperative partnership throughout the weather between Pakistan and China.

The dialogue confirms mutual support for each other’s core interests, improves economic and trade cooperation and emphasizes both countries’ commitment to regional peace, development and stability.

According to The newsWang Yi’s engagements will include meetings with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, focusing on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) progress, financial cooperation, regional security and defense ties.

The Chinese Foreign Minister is also expected to meet the Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in Rawalpindi.

This will be Wang Yi’s first visit to Pakistan since India’s cross -border aggression last May and comes weeks after his meeting with Field Marshal Munir in Beijing, a development that is seen as to reinforce the “iron -clad” relationship between Islamabad and Beijing.

DPM Dar is likely to accompany him to the negotiations with Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, although officials have not excluded the possibility of the Afghan Foreign Minister traveling to Islamabad instead. Discussions are expected to cover regional stability and Pakistan’s security concerns about Afghanistan.

Sources noted that some global capitals had tried to prevent the trilateral dialogue, but after weeks of negotiations, the three pages agreed to continue. The meeting is seen as an important step in promoting trilateral cooperation.

Wang Yi’s journey carries considerable regional weight as it follows his stop in New Delhi and goes ahead of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to China later this month for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin.
