Torrential Monsoon Rains swirled Karachi on Tuesday, triggered urban floods in several neighborhoods, disrupting traffic and causing widespread power cuts.
Dark clouds covered the city in the afternoon, followed by heavy winds with strong winds in areas, including Surjani Town, Federal B area, Gulhan-e-Iqbal, Qayyumabad, Gulistan-E-Jauhar, Malir, Shahrah-E-Faisal, Nazimabad and New Karachi.
Rainwater accumulated on larger roads and inner streets, where the Gullhan-e-Hadeed experienced severe floods as water entered the home and forced residents to move valuables to safer places.
Key crosses like Hasan Square, Nipa Chowrangi, Prison Chowrangi, Liaquatabad, Korangi, Karsaz and Expressway were also witnessing water counting, which brought the traffic flow to an almost downtime.

Traffic update
The traffic flow remained slow on several major roads over Karachi on Tuesday after heavy rain, police say.
According to the traffic police, overload was reported in District South by Capri Chowk against Numaish Chowrangi, Shahrah-E-Liaquat, Baba-E-ORDU CHOWK, MA JINNAH ROAD, JAMSED ROAD AND JEHANGIR ROAD.

In District West there witnessed slow traffic in Gulbai Chowk, Lakri Goode, Dabba Mother and PTC Gate. Similarly, the movement in the Malir district was affected along the National Highway and Jinnah Avenue Road.

Police officials said staff have been deployed to regulate the power and urged citizens to exercise caution while traveling in the rainy areas.
Power supply disturbed
Karachi’s electricity system collapsed again after heavy rain, with K-ELECTRIC’s claims of stability, which appears as more than 609 feed stumbled.
Power Utility’s distribution system remained unstable as power cuts made life difficult for citizens across several areas. According to Reports, Feeder Breakdowns Were Recorded In Baldia (68), Bin Qasim (52), Defense (50), Guldhan-E-Iqbal (46), Gulistan-E-Jauhar (62), Korangi (59), Orangi (82), Society (68), Surjani (57), LiaquaAbad, Liaquaabad, Liaquaabad, Nazimabad, and Othal, Balochistan (17).
Restoration work could not begin immediately as K-ELECTRIC’s technical teams were unable to secure soil distance. In many areas, underground cable failure and water -turned stations also disturbed supply.
Power breaks were reported in the FB area, Liaquatabad, Shah Faisal, Gulbahar, Golimar, Khwaja Ajmer Nagri, Nusrat Bhutto Colony, Pechs, North Karachi, Yousuf Goth, New Karachi, Gulistan-E-Jauhar, Bin Qasim, Sure Nazimabad, Pils Colony, Orange Orangi, Orange Orange, Orangi Manghopir, Baldia, Metroville Site, Landhi, Khokhrapar, Pak Colony, Moosa Colony, Gharibabad, Gadap, Kathore Goths, Yousuf Goth, Akhtar Colony, Manzoor Colony, Railway Colony, Colony, Colony, Colony, Qayyumabad, Bin Qasim, Othal and Surjani.
K-electric sources said that electricity was deliberately cut into areas with low-lying and KUNDA (illegal connection) as a precautionary measure.
Cm Sindh
Sindh -Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has required all affected departments to remain on high alarm under the ongoing monsoon rain.
The Minister of Ministry instructed rescue services and the administration to remain fully mobilized in view of heavy rain.
He ordered strict monitoring of the drain and drainage system to prevent flooding of cities and instructed the Karachi mayor to ensure that machines and staff remain active to immediate disposal of rainwater.
The Minister of Ministry advised the citizens to avoid unnecessary journeys during heavy rainfall. He also instructed district administrations, police and municipal bodies to maintain coordination.
The traffic police have been ordered to stay aware of low -lying and busy places and provide full guidance to the public during rainfall.
He further urged people to stay away from electricity bars and weak infrastructure and instructed surveillance systems to be strengthened to keep citizens informed of weather conditions.
