Trump National Doral has returned to the PGA Tour plan.
Miami Resort, owned by President Donald Trump, hosts a PGA Tour Signature event next year with a purse of $ 20 million during the first weekend of May. The tournament falls in the middle of a six-week stretch that begins with the masters and ends with the PGA championship.
There will be three signature events staged in the four weeks between these two majors.

“We are happy to show the game’s biggest players competing at Golf’s most iconic venues,” said PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp.

Doral first became part of the PGA Tour plan in 1962, but after Trump bought a resort, it struggled to consistently secure a title sponsor. The trip eventually moved his event from Trump Doral to Mexico City in 2016, causing the then presidential candidate Trump to notice, “I hope they have kidnapping insurance.”
While the PGA tour distanced itself from Trump Doral, Saudi-supported Life-Golf embraced it, staging tournaments there in each of the last four years. However, this strip ends in 2026, although Trump National, just outside Washington, DC, hosts a life event.
At the forefront of Liv Golf’s 2025 stop by Trump Doral, the 47th president expressed optimism about a potential fusion between the two rival trips.

PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan even called Trump “the facilitator” earlier this year as discussions between the leagues continue without a completed deal more than two years after it was first announced.
“In the end, hopefully, the two trips will merge. It will be good. I’m involved in it too,” Trump said in April. “But hopefully we get the two trips to merge. You have the PGA tour and the life tour. And I think it would be a good thing to have them fusion.”
Monahan repeated that feeling in March.
“These conversations are real. They are significant and they are driven at the top levels of both organizations. These conversations have been significantly strengthened by President Trump’s willingness to act as a facilitator,” Monahan said.

“President Trump is a lifelong Golffan. He strongly believes in the power and potential of the game, and he has been extremely generous in his time and influence to help bring a deal together. He will see the game reunited. We will watch the game reunite and his commitment has made the prospect of reunification very real.”
The new Miami Championship begins the week of April 27, 2026, with the first round played on April 30.
