- Coros has launched Nomad Smartwatch
- It has a number of features for hikers, climbers, anglers and more
- It goes head-to-head with the impressive Garmin instinct 3
When it comes to smartwatches and fitness trackers, the Garmin Instinct 3 is a real favorite here at Techradar-Vi it gave an almost perfect score as we reviewed it and we would recommend it as one of the best running watches without hesitation. Still, a rival entity has just been launched that could potentially give it a race for its money, all at a more affordable price.
That’s because Coros has just announced Nomad Smartwatch and it packs in a number of exciting features. Coros says it is “custom built for outdoor adventurers” with tools tailored to hikers, climbers, anglers and more.
One of the key features is a new Adventure Journal in the Coros app that can be used to tag locations, record voting notes and save photos and videos, with the idea that you can relive the best moments of your outdoor activities at a later date.
On the hardware side there is a MIP screen for high clarity in strong sunshine or weak light plus an aluminum and polymer frame, hardened mineral glass and water resistance down to 50 meters. You also get GPS with double frequency for navigation plus a wide range of outdoor sports states, including eight different fisheries.
Coros says that when you run the GPS Mode All-Systems, you get 50 hours of battery life. In standard use it rams up to 22 days of juice. Both of these numbers blow past the instinct 3’s 32 hours and 18 days, respectively (although we will have to confirm Nomad’s battery life in the real world to be sure).
When we reviewed the Garmin Instinct 3, we were really impressed with its MIP screen and wide range of fitness tools. The good news here is that Coros Nomad also comes quite strong in these areas, but is priced at $ 349/£ 319 – less than the most affordable Garmin Instinct 3, starting at $ 399/£ 349.
While Coros gets his job carved to beat them as instinct 3, the company is known to make Sterling Smartwatches, so it will be interesting to see how the two compare in everyday scenarios. However, if you are after a new smartwatch and like what Coros has to offer, it may be worth looking for.
