Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir on Wednesday visited flood -affected districts in Swat, Buner, Shangla and Swabi, who promised that any available national resource would be mobilized to speed up improvement and restore normality.

During their interaction with survivors, Shehbaz assured the victims of the federal government and the unwavering support of the Pakistani Army. “We will expand maximum assistance in this critical hour,” he said, valuing the “tireless dedication” of the armed forces and civil administration.
Premier also attracted attention to illegal interventions, timber smuggling and mining by worsening the disaster. He emphasized that Pakistan “must act as a tough state where no one is over the law” and directed action against violators.
PM said more than 350 people had been killed in KP alone, while nationwide injuries exceeded 700. The Prime Minister paid relief control among the victims and announced seven days of free electricity to affected households. He also ordered immediate repair of damaged road infrastructure, whether dropped under provincial or federal jurisdiction.

“Hotes and houses built on waterways increase the effect of flooding,” warned Shehbaz, calling for stricter policies to prevent illegal construction and protect natural water channels. He also called for the preservation of forests and noted that deforestation was a factor behind destructive cloudbursts.
In a remote flooding of 2022, Shehbaz said hundreds of thousands of hectares of crops were destroyed and that homes were washed away in Sindh, leading to RS100 billion in federal assistance. “Today, with the support of all stakeholders, the government is fully obliged to face this new challenge,” he said.
The Prime Minister emphasized that there should be no policy in times of crisis. He praised KP chief minister Ali Amin, the armed forces and civil administration for their relief efforts. He also paid tribute to the support of Field Marshal Munir, “under whose cooperation the government strives to stabilize the economy.”
Pakistan ranks among the world’s 10 most climate power countries, noticed Shehbaz, adding that climate change, deforestation and uncontrolled development have reinforced the extent of natural disasters.

Field Marshal Asim Munir also interacted with troops, police and civilian staff engaged in relief efforts, praises their “selfless commitment” and instructs formations to “do not reserve any efforts to relieve the difficulties of flooding families.”
Death tolls from KP floods peak 400
Torrential rain over northern Pakistan has triggered floods and landslides that swept entire villages away, leaving many residents trapped under rubble and scores is missing.
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said 356 people had been killed in KP since Thursday night, while deaths across the country rose past 700.
Dozen died more in the surrounding regions, which brought the toll over the past five days to nearly 400. Authorities warned that Monsun’s rainfall is likely to continue until the weekend.
Rescuers dug through mud and stones in the severely affected village of Dalori in KP and searched for survivors and bodies of those missing.
Villagers stood by watching and praying when rescuers worked a day after the operation was stopped by heavy rain.
