Cam Ward says physical practice struggle was exactly what the titans needed

Tennessee Titans Rookie Quarterback Cam Ward triggered a physical quarrel with veteran -defense tackle Jeffery Simmons, which led the team to break them up.

But the first overall election of the 2025 NFL draft told journalists that that was what he felt the team needed.

“Jeff is strong like S —,” Ward said via Espn. “It was fun and I think that’s what we needed. We love to compete, just with me and Jeff, and I’m excited to have that man as my teammate.”

The incident took place after Ward threw a touchdown to the broad recipient Calvin Ridley, and as he went to celebrate, he stopped in front of Simmons to tease him with his trademark “Zombieland” party – something Simmons is known for making great defensive spectacles.

Simmons didn’t like it a bit and pushed Ward in the face mask with both hands.

It triggered Titans’ offensive line to quickly rush to protect their quarterback, including left tackle Dan Moore Jr.

“Definitely not,” Moore said, when asked if anyone is allowed to touch quarterback, per. Espn. “It goes without saying.”

But this trash between Ward and Simmons is something that has been widespread since they came in the same field together.

“I’m coming here and he’s cursed near the first I’m ready to talk S — to,” Ward said. “He’s the first one to come on my head every day on practice.”

Titan’s main coach Brian Callahan, who made the team run according to practice -trigger, acknowledged that it is wrong to touch quarterback, as Simmons did. However, he does not seem to have anything against the quarrel between teammates.

“If Quarterback will come into the crisis like that, it’s on him too,” Callahan said.

Simmons added: “It’s training camp and tempts Flare. I respect hell out of our violation of having quarterbacks back. At the end of the day we are family and move on from it.”

Ward will experience much more than Simmon’s trash can in his first year in the NFL, and maybe the three-time pro bowl-tackle is trying to prepare him for these situations during the regular season.

We’ll see if ward jaws back at Denver Broncos on September 7 when he debuts in the NFL in regular season.
