Giberelle Union is pointing out how her relationship with husband Dwyane Wade’s family wasn’t always smooth.
In a recent chat about Michelle Obamas IMO Podcast on August 20, the 52-year-old wife revealed to the former NBA star that their 10-year-old age gap caused some obstacle to serving her in Laws’ confidence.
During the conversation, when Wade noted that he and his sister Tragil have a close bond, the Union mentioned that the athlete’s sister was a bit suspicious of the Union’s intentions when the couple began to go out in 2009.
Remembered at his first meeting with Wade’s family, shared the Union, “So when I first met his family, the older sisters who are closer to my age, [were] Immediately well. “
“We are good in the hood. But with tragil because she has been the protector … has she been the watchdog. She has been the gatekeeper to keep [Dwyane] sensible and to keep him doing everything he needs without interference from anyone. And before I got to the wife -scene, like when we were just [at] The very beginning I think tragil and his mother were like, ‘what do you want? Who are you, your older lady? What do you want? ‘”She continued.
“It really took a few years to earn their confidence and also for them to earn my confidence so we could be comfortable,” noticed Union and added, “now it’s easy because we’re all on the same page.”
The pair bonded the knot in 2014.
