Coco Gauff makes a big change before she starts at 2025 US Open in New York.

The American tennis star has separated ways with Matt Daly, one of her coaches while bringing in biomechanics expert Gavin Macmillan, according to several reports.

“Have only good things to say about Coco, enjoyed working with her,” Daly told Bounces, confirming their split.

Why should the 21-year-old change now before the last Grand Slam of the year? The answer may have to do with her serving.

Since her shocking first round of Wimbledon, Gauff has struggled with her serving, playing a huge factor in beating the best in the world, especially in tournaments like the US Open.

Macmillan has a history of fixing one of the best serving in women’s tennis as the world # 1 ARYNA Sabalenka used her expertise to correct that part of her game.

Macmillan was discovered at Arthur Ashe Stadium Court on Wednesday morning when Gauff hit Elina Svitolina.

“A lot of things add and this can be a really good relationship,” Espn’s Darren Cahill told Forbes about Gauff and Macmillan. “He is very thorough. … I’ve talked to him many, many times before, and the fact that he has experience with different athletes from different sports, both male and female, he uses the new technology he goes to the video a lot, really breaks down biomechanics.”

MacMillan is the founder of Sports Science Lab, which specializes in sports performance, fitness and physical rehabilitation.

Gauff’s game has not been out this year after winning the French Open back in May. But her serving has been inconsistent and she will definitely come in front of it before a tournament that many all over the United States would love to see her win again at home.

Gauff was 2023 champion in Flushing, Queens, but she was unable to defend her title in 2024 when she lost in the fourth round. Sabalenka continued to defeat another American, Jessica Pegula, in straight sets to demand the victory.
