Deion Sanders is embarking on his third season as a main football coach for Colorado Buffaloes and the first without his sons who span and Shilo play for him.
ESPN star Stephen A. Smith speculated on a segment about “First Take” with college -football study Paul Finebaum what if Sanders decided to take a job with a school in SEC. He specifically harped the idea that Sanders replaced the calene De Doger as head coach of Alabama Crimson Tide.

Alabama, one of college -football’s biggest power centers in the last decade or so, failed to make College Football Playoff last year in his first season since Nick Saban retired. By 2023, the team lost against Michigan Wolverines in Rose Bowl. Michigan won the national championship.
“Imagine if he was in Tuscaloosa,” Smith began. “What if it instead of Deboer, it was him coaching alabama? What if it was him coaching at Texas A&M with the oil money? These alumni members contributed to the program and beyond. What if he coached a few years, but my goodness, where he would go with him? Florida State.
Smith continued to say that he thought Crimson Tide was “significantly softer” in 2024 and would not have thought about whether Sanders packed his bags in Boulder to the challenge of Alabama.

“And then I just say to myself, him in sec … Listen, Florida, Alabama, because I’m not sold on Deboer. I know he did a good job in Washington,” he said. “But listen, they miss Nick Saban in Alabama. They miss Nick Saban. Damit, I miss Nick Saban. … When you don’t have him, you can’t have anyone who brings a finesse -style of games to Alabama. It’s meat and potatoes, it’s. It’s steak and potatoes for breakfast. That’s what we’re talking about here.
“We didn’t see it with Deboers. I thought they were significantly softer and I won’t lie to you, I wouldn’t mind at all if Alabama changed and they brought someone like ‘primetime’ to Alabama. It would have been spectacular. And I think it’s something they should still consider if this season is a repeat of last season.”
Deboer, like any head coach trying to replace Saban in Alabama, has enough pressure on him as it is. No. The 8th team in the nation plays Florida State to start its season on August 30th.
At one point, Sanders was the target of Dallas Cowboys’ main coach position. But the two sides never came to an agreement.

It does not appear that Sanders wants to leave Colorado and is more focused on the upcoming season and his health as he moves forward.
