- Peacemaker Season 2 makes a big change of its predecessor’s final
- Fans have long wondered how it would handle a key scene from season 1 section 8
- Everything else from last season is considered cannon in DCU
Ever since Peacemaker Season 2 was first announced, a big question has plagued fans of hit HBO MAX SHOW: What aspects of its Force’s history will be treated as Canon in the beginning DC universe (DCU)?
It’s a query that James Gunn, Co-Ceo for DC Studios, and Peacemaker‘s leader and occasional instructor, has not answered as clearly as many fans had hoped. But now this season’s premiere and it has solved a great mystery about how Gunn would handle a como-filled scene from last season finale as well.
Full spoilers immediately follow for Peacemaker Season 2 Section 1titled ‘The Bands Grinding’. Turn back now if you haven’t seen it yet.
The short answer is: All season 1 is canon in DCU. Well, all except for the como-filled scene that I will come to later.
‘The tapes that are grinded’ open with John Cena’s named anti-hero-named name Chris Smith-Beserva Questions from a Class Full of Children. It’s a fun and unexpected way to open this season of the DCU Chapter One project, especially when you consider the dichotomy between the bad, drug-abused titular character and his innocent queries.
Either way, when Smith is asked if he has an origin story, we are treated with a ‘earlier on …’ Montage from one of the best HBO Max Shows’ debut season. It includes clips of his traumatic childhood, along with ‘Project Butterfly’, killed his xenophobia and poisonous father and saves the world from a foreign invasion. Cena even delivers a voice-over that says “earlier at DCU”, which basically confirms season 1 took place in DCU instead of its now-defunct ancestor, alias DC Extended Universe (DCEU).
It is the end of this recording-based collage that addresses the multi-camo-scene I have referred to. This creature, DCEU’s Justice League, which appeared after the Smith and the 11th Street children, defeating the extraterrestrial butterflies to stop them taking over the planet Earth.
When the 11th Street children won victorious away from a well -done job in the final season of the season, they were greeted by the Justice League. Admittedly, Jason Momoas Aquaman and Ezra Miller’s The Flash are the only actors actually appearing on screen, but silhouettes by their colleagues – Henry Cavills Superman, Ben Affleck’s Batman, Gal Gadots Wonder Woman and Ray Fisher’s Cyborg – are shown.
Peacemaker 2 Corrects back this Justice League -Como. In fact, the segment ‘earlier on …’ reveals that the sextuplet has been replaced by the Justice band – ie. Edi Gathegis loses Terrific (which appears only in silhouette form), Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl and Nathan Fillions Guy Gardner/Green Lantern. The trio is also associated with contours of David Corenswets Superman and Milly Alcock’s Supergirl, though the cryptonic couple is not part of justice time.
But I’ll take off. Lambasting of their delayed appearance, Smith greets them in the same way he did the Justice League last season and said “You’re late, you f ***** gd ******* S!”. Then, in a very short scene, Hawkgirl and Gardner have designed to replace Aquaman and Flash’s short and semi-morating exchange from Season 1, Hawkgirl and Gardner a similar fleeting chat.
So the problem resolved, right? As long as you don’t go back and look at season 1 section 8, alias ‘it’s cow or never’. Gunn spoke as part of a roundtable conversation that participated by Techradar that Gunn admitted that it recovered the Justice Gang scene from this season’s premiere Won’t Replace Justice League One in the Season 1 final.
“I wish I could do it,” Gunn replied when asked if he would exchange the Justice League scene next to the updated Justice Gang One. “But I can’t because it’s too expensive. I think we’d rather spend the money on a few more visual effects to Supergirl.
“The other thing is normal people don’t give as ** t about all this canon -Ting as intimate [as diehard fans do]”He continued.” They are like ‘oh cool, peacemaker is in Superman‘Or’ Oh, it’s foreign and predators together ‘. It doesn’t matter if it’s not completely in line with the past, even though the simple way I was really the best that just says ‘yes, this world is a little different’. We know that there are other universes and it is one where everything is exactly the same as what happened in season one, except for Justice League’s appearance. “
