Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has developed an artificial intelligence (AI) -controlled application to streamline immigration procedures and slow down human smuggling. A pilot project must be launched at Islamabad International Airport.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi was informed of the initiative during a meeting of the FIA headquarters in Islamabad, where the progress of the agency’s modernization agenda was reviewed.
FIA General Raja Riffat Mukhtar said the AI-powered system will facilitate passenger stream by reducing cows while also improving the agency’s ability to detect trade in trade.
Naqvi called the project “a need for the hour,” Naqvi said it would not only save travel time but also strengthen Pakistan’s fight against human smugglers. He advertised immediate release of funds for the upgrades and sought urgent renovation of the FIA headquarters.
The Minister of the Interior instructed Capital Development Authority (CDA) to extradite land to FIA Academy without delay. Recruitment against all approved vacancies will also be initiated to tackle staff shortages.
“I want to ensure delivery of all necessary resources, but in return you will have to deliver performance,” the minister told the FIA officials.

The FIA chief further informed the minister that amendments to the FIA law had ended, while the agency’s digital transition progressed with priority. The organization has already been switched to an e-Office system with all official messages soon issued with QR codes to ensure transparency.
In recent years, the FIA has intensified its crash on the network of human trafficking.
In October 2023, it also collaborated with the European Union and the International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) to establish a “other line” border control office at Islamabad Airport, equipped with advanced forensic and IT tools to detect blacksmith documents and monitor smuggling of trends.
The launch of the AI-based application marks another significant step in Pakistan’s efforts to modernize border management and strengthen the institutional capacity against organized networks.
