Greater bids against King Charles get support during his balmoral stay

Anti-Monarchy Group Republic has expressed support for a Scottish politicians’ controversial command to eliminate oath of allegiance to King Charles III of the Scottish Parliament.

The Republic approved the movement on social media and wrote “they should do the same in the lower house. Scrap oath” while shared hashtags #notmyking and #abolishthemonarki.

The support came after the Scottish national party member Kevin Stewart introduced a movement that called on MSPs to lift allegiance to Scottish people rather than the British crown.

Stewart’s commandment followed Grenada’s decision to drop the royal oath from their national parliament.

“Grenada has decided to drop oath of allegiance to the king, is it not time for Scotland to follow their lead?” Stewart wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

The proposal arrived a few days after King Charles arrived at Balmoral Castle for Royal Family’s traditional summer retreat, welcomed by an honorary guard from the 5th Battalion, the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

According to the Scotland Act 1998, MSPs must take an oath of allegiance before participating in parliamentary business. Stewart’s movement has received support from 10 SNP members, a labor politician and a green party member.

Scottish Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser criticized the proposal as “shameless” that tells GB News that it was designed to “pans for Republican voters.”

However, any voting will lack the power to change the law as the Scotland law requires Westminster -approval of changes in the requirement of oath.
