Major League Baseball Facing a serious dilemma with online threats aimed at its players and their families.
Baltimore Orioles Pitcher Cade Povich was the second MLB player this week to reveal a terrible threat directed at his wife from a dissatisfied fan on social media. The left -handed pitcher published a screenshot of the message, which included a seemingly threat of sexual violence against Povich’s wife.

“I understand that I may not have performed or got the results that I, my team or many fans may have wanted, so I get the frustration,” Read Povich’s post on X. “

“Me, or especially my wife, shouldn’t have to worry about our public safety, nonetheless church, because of how I perform on the haug.”
The message was sent after Povich was drawn with two outs in the fifth round of Houston Astros ’10 -7 win over Orioles on Friday night.
“I’m coming here to say something about this because I know my family is not alone,” his message continued. “These things don’t belong in the game.”
And unfortunately, Povich was not alone in dealing with harassment.

Thursday, Seattle Mariners Pitcher Tayler Sauckedo shared an alarming threat directed at him and his girlfriend. The message came after Saucketo only recorded one out, allowed four hits and went a dough in the Philadelphia Phillies ’11 -2 victory over Seattle on Wednesday.
The gang-corded message included a threat that Sautero’s “Head is broken to pieces” and that his girlfriend would also “also be great.”

Trust Me, I WANT TO WIN JUST AS MUCH AS ALL OF YOU WHEHER I’M HERE OR NOT. BEYOND BASEBALL, “SAUCEDO WRIPE IN A POST ON X.” ITS INSANE HOW COMFORTABLE PEOPLE ARE SENDING THIS STUFK TO NOT ONLY ME BUT MY PARTNER.

These events are not isolated.
Last month, Boston Red Sox Pitcher Lucas Giolito said he confronted MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred about online bullying. He said he thought online sports betting and social media access has increased harassment that athletes are facing.
“It’s only going so far,” he said. “Will it take a player to be assaulted in front of their apartment building by an unhappy guy who lost an effort for real action to be taken?”
