- Rokid -Glasses launch International
- They are ready to cost $ 599 (approximately £ 355 / AU $ 920) and launch in November
- These are cheaper but arrive later than Meta’s rumored smart glasses with a display
We are just a few weeks out of Meta Connect, where we probably see the company’s first ray-ban-smart glasses with a display, but a rival has turned them to the punch with a few specifications that seem to go toe to toe with it, Meta’s offer.
That’s because we just had the international launch event for the Rokid glasses, which are now up on Kickstarter if you want to score a pair with a limited time discount (ranging from 20 to 15% depending on which early bird deal you can chin).
In a moment, they share a lot of similarities to Meta’s existing smart specifications-we talk about a 12MP camera, open ear speakers and a Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 chipset. You also get an AI assistant on board, which is “Chatgpt 5 authorized” if you have an internet connection.
These Rokid glasses take things up in a notch as they also boast of a pair of micro-joint waves screens that serve as a heads-up screen for directions, real-time translation and as a prompt.
Another feature teased by promotional images is that the glasses can – like Meta’s smart specifications – identify things you can see when requested. With the display, they will still highlight what they have identified. This would be very convenient to make sure there is no confusion between what you would know more about and what the glasses inform you about.
These screens seem to seem convenient in your vision-but a little out of the way not to be too distracting-self they are not in full color. You can only see green text and shapes.
Whatever it seems that Rokid’s specifications could be a real winner if they can live up to the hype. Especially because-all before any discounts with early birds are ready to cost $ 599 (about £ 355 / AU $ 920).
That’s significantly less than $ 800 (£ 590 / AU $ 1,230) Meta’s specifications are rumored to be cost.
However, I would not count Meta yet, as in Smart Glasses Race, they have a documented track record with some very stylish (yet functional) specifications with both its ray-ran and recently its Oakley collaborations.
In addition, rumors suggest that Meta’s glasses will boast of a full-color screen-beautiful it will only be visible to a single eye. However, this would make it a more versatile screen.
As for the price difference when you enter into that Meta’s specifications always come up with a charging case (so presumably its new model will also) also it is only intended to be about $ 100 more expensive, as Rokid’s glasses with a charging case will put you back $ 698 (about £ 395 / AU $ 1,075).
It is probably also Meta’s specifications actually come before, as Connect is in September, and the technology is typically launched within a month after. The Rokid glasses are not sent from Kickstarter until November.
Although this launch does not postpone a clear winner or losing between Rokid and Meta, it emphasizes that games Smart Glasses are not set to be a one-horse-horsing race not to that extent VR has felt in the last few years.
We will have to wait and see what Meta is debuting on Meta Connect, and as always, we will have to test out both glasses before we set aside our final judgment – but Rokid’s specifications look impressive and if it can put the landing, Meta (and anyone who wants to buy a few smart specifications) will be aware.
