IFI has announced a new super-laptop Bluetooth DAC, IFI Go Blu Air. It is extremely small, even according to IFI’s usual standards: If the company’s laptop DACs become much smaller, they will be able to sell them to ants.
Go Blu air may be small – it’s only 5 cm high – but its specification is not. It packs IFI’s signature-three-step audio system and both 3.5 mm and balanced 4.4 mm headphones, with IFIS anti-crossstalk system of 3.5 mm output. And it adds a very respectable 256 MW power to connect to a number of the best wired headphones and the best wired earplugs.
There is also an integrated microphone for your calls and your phone’s digital assistant, and for wireless connection to your phone or other device, there is LDAC and APTX adaptive as well as regular bluetooth.
IFI GO Blu Air: Key Functions and Pricing
IFI likes to keep the Bluetooth treatment and audio treatment separated to deliver the best possible sound, and to achieve the Qualcomm QCC5144 Bluetooth 5.2 Chipset handles Bluetooth reception and nothing else.
The audio data is processed by a Hi-Res Cirrus Logic Masterhifi DAC, which in turn passes the signal on a double-mono amplifier.
According to IFI, the AMP circuit “Discrete components of high quality to maximize sonic purity-from TDK C0G and Murata has multi-layer capacitors, to the custom OV series Operational amplifiers with Ultra-low distortion (0.0001%).”
In addition to DAC, IFI has added its own analog Xbass and XSpace systems and given them hardware checks so you don’t have to reach your phone. There is also a combined volume control and navigation disc for the same reason.
On only 30 GI weight, this is a real DAC-where, and in a nice touch it comes with a magnetic clip that you can use to attach it to your jacket, bag or belt. And according to IFI, you can expect a decent 10 hours between charges.
