It’s Official – Harlan Coben’s Lazarus Coming to Prime Video on October 22, with all six episodes set to fall on the streaming service at once. Maining Bill Nighy and Sam Claflin, the new criminal thriller will follow a forensic pathologist (Claflin) who is investigating murder with a cold case after returning to his family home after his father’s death (Nighy).
Crime stalls among us will know that this is far from the first time we have been able to stream a CoBen story. Fool me onceAt Miss youand Stay tight are all among those adapted from his novels. The difference is that we have typically streamed the crime dramas on Netflix in the last few years.
So why have it Lazarus Crossed over to Prime Video? Not only is the answer much more straightforward than you think, but it will be easier than ever for both new and old fans to watch the new series, and that’s a good thing.

Throw your mind back to 2018. Coben had just signed a five-year deal with Netflix to customize 14 of his existing novels to the streaming service, which includes the titles I’ve mentioned above. When they began to appear from 2020 (starting with The stranger), he has officially reached the end of the five -year period.
But even before that, Coben’s Shelter had already been adapted to Prime Video in 2023 (you can catch the trailer above). Because the Mickey Bolitar books were not part of what was outlined in the Netflix contract, COBEN had total free reign to do this. Two years later, and it apparently started a brand new streaming partnership.
It is also worth remembering that Lazarus Will not be an adaptation from an existing book, but instead comes from a manuscript written by Coben and Danny Brocklehurst. This is another huge difference from the TV shows we have seen coming before, and potentially highlights a new avenue with original ideas that Prime Video Partnership can explore.
Personally, I think Coben, which switches from Netflix to Prime Video, is an incredibly smart move. We will never lose the Bank of Content created for the former, but Prime Video is a service that has a lot of relaxed viewers thanks to its connection to Amazon Prime. My grandmother can see Lazarus, so my mother with those who now thinks the other best streaming services can be a RIP OFF and want to cancel their subscriptions.
Even I who would not normally be forced against a crime procedure feel more compelled to give Lazarus A trip. And what my friends are knowledgeable business planning.
