Noah Wyle admits he once “gave up hope” to earn another Emmy nomination.
The actor who plays in HBO MAX’s Pittrevealed by the streamer’s nominated celebration in Hollywood on August 17 that he had stopped believing he would see that day again.
“I’m a little different when it strikes. It hits an older man, that’s for sure,” Wyle told 54, to People Magazine. “And one that has been now for 30 years, done a lot of different things … I’m overwhelmed by this.”
“I gave up hope that this would be something my career would be a part of again – that this focus would be on my work. It’s really amazing,” he continued.
Wyle, who received nominations this year for starring role in a drama series and unique drama series (as executive), was last recognized 26 years ago for his portrayal of Dr. John Carter on Is.
He earned another five nods in the supporting actor in a category of drama series between 1995 and 1999.
The actress also gave many years of partner and colleague -performing producer John Wells a cry to help with his professional growth.
“I go back to give all the honor to John Wells who is the true godfather of [ER and The Pitt] And has been the kind of mentoring figure for me over two of the most rewarding creative experiences of my life, “Wyle noted.
“All I do on this is to please him and stay under his protective umbrella as long as I might.”
Wyle also became real about the generational change on television and admitted that he now feels like “the older statesman” among the younger role crews.
“You don’t really expect it to happen, but it happened – and now I see this wonderful generation of young talent,” he said. “It’s their moment in the sun.”
Pitt streaming at the moment on HBO MAX. Season 2 premieres in January, while the 77 EMMY Awards will be released live on September 14 at 1 p.m. 20 ET/KL. 17 pt on CBS.
