Karachi/Guddu/SUKKUR:
Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Sunday said the provincial government has taken emergency measures considering the threat of a possible superflood.
The highest priority of the government, he added, is the protection of human life, livestock and critical infrastructure.
SHARJEEL said the district administration, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Army jointly performs evacuation and relief operations. He added that 192 boats have been deployed in Katcha areas to facilitate timely evacuation.
Thousands of families, he added, was moved to safe places, including schools, government buildings and tent villages where food, clean drinking water and health facilities are arranged. Machines, stones and labor have been deployed in vulnerable places.
He appealed to the public and the media to cooperate with the administration and refrain from spreading rumors or panic.
