BEIJING: Russian President Vladimir Putin has confirmed Moscow’s desire to strengthen relations with Pakistan and emphasize the importance of expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
He conveyed this during a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the Sideline of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Beijing.
In a speech on the occasion, President Putin said Russia is enjoying excellent relations with Pakistan and looking forward to further strengthening bilateral ties.
He noted that Pakistan is currently facing a natural accident and expressing grief over the losses caused by recent floods.
President Putin, who expressed his views, said they had held a meeting about a year ago, on the sidelines of SCO in Astana.
“Pakistan has always been Russia’s traditional partner in Asia, and that’s still it. We greatly appreciate these ties,” he said, adding that both sides agreed to intensify their bilateral conditions.
The president noted that their bilateral trade required to be improved, and in this regard he emphasized to take steps to solve the problem.
He also believed that the two countries continued to cooperate at the Inter-parliamentary levels, which added “Pakistan is a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, and both countries held contacts within the United Nations framework, which is an important platform.”
He invited the Prime Minister to the SCO summit in Russia during November.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Pakistan’s desire to improve relations with Russia confirmed, especially in trade and other areas of cooperation. He emphasized that Pakistan is eager to expand the collaboration with Moscow across several sectors.
The premiere also emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace, development and prosperity in the region.
He expressed confidence that both countries would make further efforts to promote bilateral ties and cooperation, especially in trade and trade.
Last year, Pak-Russia bilateral trade witnessed a spikes when Pakistan imported oil from Russia, which led to an increase in trade volume, he added.
PM Shehbaz also said that both countries, after their meeting in Astana, witnessed a flurry of delegation visits to the higher level, adding that they also signed protocols to promote agriculture, iron, steel, energy and transport sectors.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of the trading corridor Fyderus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan, who would give a spur to the regional connection and prosperity.
When he expressed his satisfaction, he said that both sides were very obliged to build their relationship. The primary prime minister also expressed gratitude to the Russian president of supporting Pakistan, who was considered “a balancing act in the region”.
He said that Pakistan respected the Russian Federation’s ties with India, but that they also wanted to build very strong connections with his country, which would be additional and free.
He expressed that these advantageous ties would add the region’s progress and prosperity and assured President Putin to work closely in this context when he had found him “a dynamic leader.”
PM Shehbaz arrived in Beijing from Tianjin by Bullet Train after attending the 25th meeting of the Council of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
He was received by Wang Hong, a member of the Standing Committee for National People’s Congress at South Railway Station in Beijing.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister of Information and TV -Casting Attaullah Tarar and special assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi also accompanied the Prime Minister.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Shehbaz held a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, where both leaders confirmed their strong decision to further elaborate and strengthen the bilateral partnership founded on strategic cooperation between Pakistan and China.
“Pakistan is very proud of China’s results,” the prime minister said, adding that Pakistan will always be ready to work with China on this great journey.
Meanwhile, President Xi Peking’s obligation to stand by Pakistan confirmed in all areas of economic growth.
“The focus is placed on Pakistan’s most important economic sectors,” President Xi told PM Shehbaz while saying CPEC had entered its second phase.
‘State -supported terrorism’
A day earlier, Premier turned to the SCO summit and called for respect for sovereignty, regional dialogue and a collective approach to terrorism.
By confirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and cooperation, Prime Minister Shehbaz said that SCO reflects Islamabad’s sustained decision to strengthen regional connection and cooperation.
PM said: “We call for the maintenance of bilateral and international agreements and said,“ We [Pakistan] Expect SCO member countries to follow all bilateral treaties. Uninterrupted access to a proper proportion of water, according to existing treaties, is important to strengthen SCO’s targets. “
He also said: “Pakistan believes in multilateralism, dialogue and diplomacy, not one -sidedism or confrontation … there is nothing more sacred than sovereignty and territorial integrity of any nation.”
PM Shehbaz also called for a comprehensive dialogue to solve many years of problems in South Asia. “Stability in Afghanistan remains throughout the region’s interest,” the prime minister said.
