San Diego Padres not only lost to Baltimore Orioles on Monday, but they may have lost one of their all-star relievers for the season.
Auxiliary pot Jason Adam went down in pain during the seventh round of the team’s 4-3 loss at Petco Park.
The game was tied 3-3 at the top of the seventh with one out and a runner on the first base as Orioles Shortstop Gunnar Henderson hit a weak notch back over the pitcher.

Adam tried to play on Grounder, but immediately curled up to the ground. Padre’s shortstop Jose Iglesias felt the ball, but did not play anything when Henderson reached the first base.
When the play ended, Adam immediately waved to Dugout for help.
“I felt the pop right away, felt like the quad kind of rolled up, so I knew a little that it wasn’t good. It was pain at first and then you got to a little and liked, ‘Hi, did we get out?’ Then it’s just waiting to hear how long, “Adam told journalists post game while he was on crutches with a stag on his left leg.
Adam said he “went to plant to go back and grab the ball because it was a kind of chopper to my right and that was when I felt pop and the like gave up and I fell.”
The 34-year-old reliever was eventually helped to a carriage and led by the track for a standing ovation.
Fellow All-Star Reliever Robert Suarez went into Adam’s place and beat the first dough he was facing, but let a race when Dylan Beaver’s singles on the right field, scoring Jeremiah Jackson to give Oioles a 4-3 lead.

Adam said the hardest part of his injury would miss a potential world series.
“I think it’s the hardest part, the improvement is what it is you can take that day by day, but just knowing this group in here, the mental toughness they have, the skill, you just know that there is everything in this clubhouse to win the World Series,” Adam said.
“You want to be part of it, but I can still play a small role in it by showing up every day for the boys, but that’s the hardest part.”
Adam said he still needs to get an MRI for confirmation, “but it sounds like six to nine months, so the season is probably done.”
Adam has been spectacular for Padres this season. In 66 games he published a 1.93 era and beat 70 fighters over 65 1/3 laps. Padres’ Bullpen -era at 3.11 was the best in the Major League baseball, and Adam was a big part of this success.
Padre’s manager Mike Shild called Adam “an absolute workhorse.”

“We have a good clubhouse. We have big dudes. I love him to death. Jason is as solid a guy as there is. He is respected and means a lot to us. We will miss him and we will have to figure it out,” Shild said.
Padres has lost two straight and the los Angeles Dodgers with 2 1/2 matches in the National League West. They are two games in front of the New York Mets for the second NL-Wild-Card site.
Padres (76-62) tried to turn things on Tuesday when facing Orioles (62-76) in the second game in their three-game series at 1 p.m. 21.40 ET.
