Jones’ lawyer for record, Christopher A. Dodd, proposed the dismissal substantiated his long -term belief in his client’s innocence.

“We have been fully confirmed. From the start, we explained that a woman made a false claim against Jon in an attempt to avoid being arrested for DWI, and unfortunately the police accepted that the claim without properly weighed the facts. When the relevant documents were finally revealed by the police fair review of this case, which ultimately confirmed Jon’s innocence.”

Dodd added that his office continues to review the Albuquerque Police Department’s behavior that led to and immediately after Jones’ arrest.

“At the same time, it is deeply worrying that such critical evidence was ignored, which forced Jon to endure this trial unnecessarily. Our investigation into how this happened remains in progress.”

A woman involved in a vehicle accident in February claimed that Jones was driving one of the cars associated with the incident and alleged that he was leaving the stage after the wreck. The corresponding police officer noted that the woman showed signs of “considerable intoxication.”

At that time, Dodd denied hard the claim that Jones was driving a vehicle during the night in question.

“Jon wasn’t driving that night; he wasn’t in the car,” Dodd said in a statement in June. “It seems that a drunken woman was using a false accusation against Jon to avoid being arrested for DWI, and the police fell for it. Based on the criminal complaint, they seemed to go so far as to seek a guarantee of Jon’s mobile phone registers while conducting a misdemeanor of traffic investigation. I have never heard of such a thing.”

Jones retired from professional competition in June. He made the decision after competing sparingly since 2020. Jones held UFC’s undisputed title at the time he stepped away. Despite the retirement, Jones has made traits that suggested that he could return to the matches in 2026.
