Di khan:
Following the tragic killing of seven people of unidentified terrorists in the Kurram district, the Thall-Parachinar Hovedvejen has been closed to all types of traffic by authorities.
The message was made through a press release issued by Anjuman Hussainia Parachinar. The statement said that in the wake of yesterday’s incident, all movement along the Thall – Parachinar route has been suspended. The press release advised additional travelers to avoid unnecessary travel for time and exercise extreme caution.
It is remembered that in August, soil access to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s tribal district in Kurram finally restored after a nine-month long suspension. The main road, which was closed in October 2023 due to sectarian violence, was partially opened under strict security protocols, giving some relief to residents of parachinar.
The closure was introduced after attacks on vehicles carrying pilgrims and subsequent retaliatory events that escalated tension in the region. As a result, the authorities had sealed the central highway, which led to a serious lack of significant goods and stranded hundreds of students and residents of other cities.
In an attempt to mitigate the crisis during the blockade, the government launched a limited helicopter service, which was found to be inadequate to meet the needs of the population.
Since the reopening, 20 to 22 passenger vehicles reached parachuting daily.
Government sources said the situation has improved following the peace agreement in December 2024 and subsequently successful tribe Jirgas.
On Wednesday, at least seven people were killed when unidentified gunmen attacked a passenger vehicle in Lower Kurram.
