- Samsung Viewfinity S8 37-inch 4K screen weighs nearly 9 kg
- Windows 11 Support keeps the device firmly focused on office tasks
- Larger text at 4K resolution raises questions about genuine clarity gains
Samsung has introduced Viewfinity S8 (S80UD), a 37-inch 4K UHD screen that seems to take the fight to a category where LG recently revealed its 36.5-inch 37U730SA-W.
Both companies seem to be testing if there is a demand for large format screens designed to replace double-monitor setups while offering a variety of office-focused features.
This device seems to be the first 37-inch 4K UHD Business Monitor in the world, although the claim is somewhat debatable in view of LG’s almost identical release.
Expansion of the Office Inside Room
The Samsung model has a VA panel with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels and a standard update rate of 60Hz.
Certification from TÜV Rheinland notices it as an ergonomic office play, while the inclusion of smart eye protection technology aims to reduce eye fatigue by limiting blue light and flicker.
A screen of this size means that text appears larger compared to a 32-inch screen in the same resolution, something Samsung presents as an advantage of long work sessions.
Weighing 8.9 kg with a thickness of about 25 cm, this unit is neither a portable screen nor a device you can easily move around.
USB-C connection with up to 90W charging allows direct support to a business-bearable computer without requiring an extra power brick.
The monitor also includes a LAN port that enables wired connections that can be transferred to connected devices.
Its integrated KVM -Switch allows users to operate two computers with a single set of peripheral devices, while PBP and PIP modes make it possible to run simultaneous input sources on the screen.
These additions can streamline workflows, although their applicability in practice will vary depending on the user’s environment.
Samsung positions 37-inch Viewfinity S8 between its 32-inch and 43-inch deals, which suggests that it can be seen as an intermediate ground for users who find double smaller screens either troublesome or unnecessary.
The company claims that the wider screen reduces the need for window change, but this idea is not new and its actual productivity benefits remain untested outside controlled demonstrations.
Unlike the LG 36.5-inch 37U730SA-W with WebOS, the Samsung Viewfinity S8 holds stuck within the screen category, promoting straightforward compatibility with Windows Systems (Win11) rather than placing it as an entertainment hub.
The Samsung Viewfinity S8 is currently available on the Samsung US Web site with a retail price of $ 579.99, slightly cheaper than its LG counterpart.
