A bomb explosion at Kohsar Cricket Ground in the Khar Tehsil area of the Bajaur District, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), left a man dead and a child wounded on Saturday, police confirmed.
The deceased was identified as Fazlullah. Both he and the wounded child were moved to District Headquarters Hospital in Khar for medical treatment, police added.
The explosion took place during a local cricket game that triggered panic among players and spectators. According to officials, the impact of the explosion was so powerful that its sound was repeated over distant areas, causing a broad alarm.
“In a state of panic, many of the field fled as the explosion shook the earth,” a police spokesman said. “The explosion took place while local players were actively engaged in the game.”
Security forces quickly arrived at the stage and closed the area. The site was examined for further evidence while a study was launched in the species and the source of the explosive device.
So far, no group has assumed responsibility for the attack.
