The provincial rain and flood cell has reported significant changes in Sindh’s water situation with sharp increases in influx and outflow at larger barriers.
In trimmu barrier, the water flow increased by 112,576 CUSERCS over the past 12 hours and reached 488,169 CUSSCS, with outflows registered at the same level.
In Panjnad barrier, inflow and outflow were stable at 345,047 CUSSCS, which affected conditions of Guddu and SUKKUR barriers downstream.
Guddu barrier recorded influx of 366,151 CUSERCS and outflow of 328,487 CUSERCS, with a major flood wave that is expected to pass today.
Authorities have warned that fluctuating water levels may aggravate the situation in nearby areas. Residents of Sehwan’s river belt have been asked to evacuate.
Sindh -Point Tax and Tax Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla said that all necessary events had been completed to manage the flood water and that officials monitored the development closely.
Sindh -Assembly speaker Syed Owais Qadir Shah, during a visit to SUKKUR BARRAGE, said the true scope of the situation would be clear when the flood wave reached Panjnad and Guddu.

In the case of SUKKUR, the inflow was recorded at 329,990 CUSERCs and outflow at 281,985 CUSERCs, which brought unusual changes in the water level and affects the surrounding areas.
Kotri Barrage reported the influx of 245,452 CUSERCs and outflows of 226,497 CUSERCs, over normal levels and affects river flows further downstream.
Rain death tolls
At least 907 people have lost their lives, and 1044 others who have so far been injured in rain and flood -related events across the country, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said.
According to the NDMA statistics, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) reported the highest number of deaths with 502 deaths and 218 injuries. In Punjab, 223 people were killed and 654 wounded, while Sindh recorded 58 deaths and 78 injuries in the Monsun season.
Balochistan reported 26 fatalities and five injuries, while Gilgit-Baltivity recorded 41 deaths and 52 injuries due to rain, flash floods and landslides. In addition, 38 deaths were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and nine in Islamabad.
NDMA further noted that 6,180 livestock perished and 7,848 houses were damaged in rain and flood -related incidents.
Meanwhile, NDMA has issued a warning warning of potential urban flooding and lightning in parts of Islamabad and the northern Punjab due to the development of a strong weather system.
According to NDMA, heavy rainfall is expected to be accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad, Rawal Pindi, Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum. “The formation of towering cumulonimbus clouds, triggered by intense heat, can lead to heavy rainfall and lightning,” NDMA said.

It warned that hilly areas could experience landslide, while heavy rain can damage weak infrastructure and cause power breaks.
NDMA advised residents to stay away from trees and weak structures, park vehicles in safe places and avoid unnecessary journeys.
Boat capsules
At least five people, including a woman and four children, lost their lives after a boat bearing flood victims enclosed during an evacuation operation in Jalalpur Pirwala on Saturday, confirmed officials.
According to Rescue 1122, more than 20 people were on board when the boat overturned due to strong streams of water. Rescue teams responded quickly and managed to save over a dozen people.
“Our volunteers risked their lives and saved over 12 individuals from the furious waters,” said Rescue 1122 spokesman, adding that the unfortunate accident took place during a flood surgery in the Multan region.
PDMA -General Irfan Ali Kathia instructed authorities to ensure that the wounded receive the best medical treatment and ordered the evacuation effort to prioritize security. “Private or official lifeboats must under no circumstances be overloaded,” he said.
The rescue spokesman added that over 9,000 people have so far been rescued from flooding areas in Multan, while more than 350,000 people and over 300,000 livestock have been evacuated in advance to safer places.
