- More iPhone 17 Pro Max photos appear
- These are apparently “engineering models”
- We may not get a black version this year
There is a Big Apple event scheduled for the coming Tuesday, September 9, and we expect four iPhone 17 models to be revealed. With only days back, the leaks continue, including new pictures of the iPhone 17 Pro Max
These pictures have been sent by the well -known tipster @universeice and are described as “engineering models”. It is not exactly clear what it means, but we can assume that these phones show the final design of Apple’s most expensive iPhone 17 model.
Another tidbit from this post is that there may not be a black version of the iPhone 17 Pro Max (which probably also applies to the iPhone 17 Pro). The available titanium colors to The iPhone 16 Pro Max is black, white, natural and desert.
The colors shown here are a light-ish orange and a dark-ish blue, both of which have been rumored in the past. Presumably, some more subtle colors will also be offered, although black is not – Apple can replace it with a dark gray or something similar.
Black is the color
This is the closest photo of the entire internet for the right iPhone 17 Pro Max. They are engineering mask models. This time there is no black version, only this dark blue. pic.twitter.com/okzhluitc5September 7, 2025
There is another option here that the phrase “This time there is no black version, only this dark blue” refers to this particular leak rather than the iPhone 17 Pro Max colors in general. Based on previous leaks, it actually seems more plausible.
In fact, we have previously seen Dummy devices showing the iPhone 17 Pro in black. All of these leaked images also show the back panel’s redesign with a larger camera emergency that has been rumored for a long time now.
We leave it to you how to interpret this, but given iPhones is almost always available in black – including the standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16E that were launched in February – it would be a surprise if it was not offered.
We know for sure this coming Tuesday when the phones are revealed along with new smartwatches and earplugs. Everything is in progress at. 10 PT / 13:00 ET / 18:00 BST (3:00 on September 10) and you can look together.
