Rain damage historical Samadhi in Gujranwala

Lahore:

The latest heavy rain has damaged part of the historic samadhi of Sardar Mahan Singh, located in Sheranwala Bagh, Gujranwala. After receiving reports on the incident, the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) immediately initiated restoration measures.

Following the preparation of an initial assessment report, repair and restoration work has already begun to prevent further damage to the cultural heritage.

The ETPB secretary formally recommended to the district administration that MC Girls School next to Samadhi be moved to another building to ensure that the student and staff’s safety from potential risks.

Meanwhile, the Gujranwala administrator, along with ETPB’s technical team on site, remains to oversee all the caution and restoration efforts.

Samadhi from Sardar Mahan Singh is considered a valuable part of the subcontinent’s history and Sikh heritage.
