- Nova Launcher’s Sole Developer will no longer update it
- It can still be downloaded but probably not a viable option for much longer
- However, there are plenty of other Android -Lifting Affairs Available
Nova Launcher is one of the oldest and best Android Lifting Putter – that is, Overlays that you can download to replace the one your manufacturer has put on your phone. But despite its lasting popularity, it is essentially to shut down.
Its creator Kevin Barry has made a statement that he has been the only one working at Nova Launcher in the past year and that he is now leaving the branch (who acquired NOVA in 2022).
In preparation for that, Barry has worked with an open source release by Nova Launcher so it could live on, but he has now apparently been told by Branch to stop working on this. So that sounds a lot like Nova Launcher won’t continue in any form.
Other options
If you’ve been addicted to Nova Launcher, it’s sure to be disappointing news, but there are some promising alternatives.
There is Niagara -Launcher for someone who is another popular option (though not in the same league as Nova Launcher). This is more minimalist than Nova Launcher, but still quite adaptable.
Then there is Hyperion Launcher, which may be a little less known than either Niagara-Launcher or Nova-Launcher, but is similarly the function pack and adapted to the latter, making it a good alternative if you want to get as close to Nova Launcher as possible.
There are also Smart Launcher that automatically sorts your apps in categories, automatically changes the theme color that matches your wallpaper and can be fully adjusted. Plus, the developers have actually sent some help to NOVA users who may want to switch to Smart Launcher.
Or if you find comfort in a big name, there are Microsoft Launcher that provide customized icons, daily wallpapers from Bing, a personalized feed and more. It is well reviewed and has been downloaded over 50 million times.
In any case, Nova Launcher is still available in the Google Play store, but if it stops being updated – as it sounds as it wants – its days of being useful or even compatible with new devices and Android versions are probably numbered.
