UCLA Backup Quarterback Pierce Clarkson was arrested on an unspecified crime in California last week and was then suspended from the team, according to online items and school officials.
Clarkson, 21, was arrested Friday by Los Angeles Police and face a crime, according to online prison registers from Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. His bail was set at $ 30,000 and he was released later that day after sending the bond.

While the nature of his prosecutor was not available in online items, Los Angeles Times reported that he was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily harm.

The weapon was not a firearm, a police spokesman told Los Angeles Times.
The University of California Athletics Department released a statement confirming Clarkson’s suspension from the team pending “the result of the legal process.”

“We are aware of the charges against Pierce Clarkson,” the statement reads. “He has been suspended indefinitely from all team activity pending the outcome of the legal process. This situation will be evaluated by the UCLA office for student behavior, and any additional actions will be in accordance with this evaluation and university policy.”

Clarkson is in his first season with Bruins. He previously played two seasons at Louisville Like a backup quarterback where he went 4-for-6 in 18 total yards and nine rushing yards on five attempts in three appearances.
Before he signed with UCLA, Clarkson was on Ole Miss During the spring of 2025.

Clarkson is from Bellflower, California. He is the son of the well-known quarterback coach Steve Clarkson. He has not yet played for Bruins this season. He will be back in court next month.
