RIP‘s inaugural strailer arrives 24 hours after Netflix revealed several first-look images on a movie that is partly inspired by real events.
As author/instructor Joe Carnahan tells tudum.com, RIP “Get out of a deeply personal experience that my friend went through, both as a father and as leader of tactical drugs for Miami Dade Police Department. It is partly inspired by his life and then by my lasting love for these classic ’70s policeman who truly appreciated the character and interpersonal relationship and became the touch stone of that era.”
As for the title of the film, Carnahan reveals that it is Miami COP shorthand for “Ripping It”, alias “to take the evil guy’s things. In the event of a seizure of cash or drugs or weapons, the confiscation itself is known as ‘rip’.
