Kayla Nicole says she has learned to take “control of the story” after being exposed to a wave of online hatred over the past year.
Podcaster and reporter that once dated Taylor Swifts now engaged and Nfl Star Tavis Kelce, gained access Thursday in New York Fashion Week.
Nicole also shared that the greatest lesson she has learned about herself over the past year is that “others’ opinions are only as large as you do them.”
“So if I don’t allow it to influence me it simply won’t,” she told People Magazine. “Do you know what I mean? Sometimes on social media we think it’s the whole world and it’s really not.”
“It’s an app with a couple of 100,000 million people, but you have control over the story, honestly, and if something holds you, you have to settle, turn it off,” Nicole continued. “Delete the app, log off. It’s my greatest advice”
Nicole’s comments come weeks after Kelce and Swift announced their commitment to August. In response, Nicole subtly shared a video of actress Tracee Ellis Ross, who talked about choosing joy over fleeting happiness. “Happiness is something you can get on the 7-Eleven, and joy is something you earn and work for and take practice.”
In reflective of this repost, Nicole said, “Gosh, I read a book years ago, but basically the idea is that happiness is fleeting. Joy is something that is deep and eternal and it is a choice every day. It resonates with me because it is something I try to do in my life regularly.”
Since her split from Kelce in 2022, Nicole has been intentional to move on. It included following Brittany and Patrick Mahomes on Instagram – a decision she has previously explained. “The reality is that I know these people in real life,” she said earlier this year.
“And then in real life, I’ve communicated to these people, why I’ve had to make the decisions I made.”
In April, she also revealed that she has not yet experienced a romance like the adventures portrayed in Disney movies.
